PAINESVILLE TOWNSHIP – Planning a trip for two and need transportation? What about taking the family to a Walt Disney park in Florida?
Two round-trip airline tickets on a Southwest Airlines flight and a four-pack of Walt Disney one-day park-hopper passes are just two of the many items that will auctioned off at "Let Your Light Shine," an annual dinner and auction to support Project Hope for the Homeless, Lake County’s only emergency homeless shelter.
The event, which will be held at 6 p.m. April 11 at St. Noel Banquet Center in Willoughby Hills, will also feature live music, keynote speaker Wayne Dawson of Cleveland’s Fox 8 News, the presentation of the 2008 Blessing Award, and silent and live auction items including sporting event tickets, getaway trips, family outings and more.
The live auction will be conducted by Barry Densmore, of Densmore Auctions in Madison.
"This is our largest fundraiser of the year, and the only Project Hope-sponsored fundraiser," said Project Hope Executive Director Judy Burr. "The money raised at this event enables us to continue to provide shelter, food and guidance for up to 35 homeless men, women and children each night, free of charge."
In 2007, Project Hope, a United Way agency, served 279 people, with more than 60 percent leaving the shelter for permanent housing or a treatment facility.
Seats for the event are $40 per person or $300 for a table of eight. To reserve a seat or make a contribution for the auction, call Project Hope for the Homeless at (440) 354-6417.
