Riverside, Lake Catholic and Mentor’s boys cross country teams were among the top finishers at last weekend’s Willougby South invitational. In the first meet of the season for all the schools involved, Riverside boys finished third, followed by Lake Catholic and Mentor, in the fourth and fifth spots. Massillon Jackson won the meet, and Mayfield was second. Among the local school’s runners, Riversides‚ Zach McBride topped them all, as he led the pack and finished first overall. | | Lady Rebels soccer team scores late to beat Geneva |

South High School girls soccer team dominated the possession of the ball in second against Geneva but it took two late scores to put the Eagles to rest and give the Rebels a 3-2 win.
The Eagles and Rebels went into the half tied 1-1. The game was kept close by Geneva’s defenders who did a great job of shutting down the Rebels constant attacks downfield. more... |

BURTON - The 12-7 final score could have been much more lopsided.
Turnover and a few questionable calls or penalties negated one touchdown and stopped several scoring drives by the Pymatuning Valley Lakers Friday night.

NORTH KINGSVILLE - The Edgewood Warriors golf team hosted the Jefferson Falcons and Geneva Eagles on Wednesday, Aug. 25, at the Village Green Golf Course.
Geneva would go on to win the contest after getting two of the lowest scores of the day from Michael Schubert and Nick Pae, who both shot a 37. Ryan Nappi finished with a 39 and Frank Zehe shot a 40 to give the Eagles a team score of 153. Cole Maloy and James Lucas would round out the scoring for Geneva with a 43 and 44 respectively. more... |

JEFFERSON - The Pymatuning Valley girls’ soccer team visited the Jefferson Falcons girls’ soccer team on Thursday, Aug. 26.
Tessa Kellar scored for Pymatuning Valley in the first minute of the game when Jefferson goal keeper Lindsey Becker could not secure the ball after a shot by Samantha Felix. Kellar took the rebound and fired it home to take the early lead in the contest. more... |
