CONNEAUT - All board members were present when the Conneaut Area City School Board met Thursday, Aug. 19, at the Board of Education office at the Southeast Building.
Correspondence included a thank-you letter from Jim Kennedy regarding the summer playground program, which was attended by 168 students. Average daily attendance was 90. Kennedy thanked the board for its support and included a card and pictures from the children. more... |

JEFFERSON - Nikki Rose started her new position as a Jefferson Area Junior/Senior High School teacher one week after formally being hired Aug. 17.
The Jefferson Area Local School District Board of Education unanimously approved Rose to begin teaching History and Civics Aug. 24, the first day of the 2010-2011 school year.
Rose said she will teach American History to eighth grade students.
“I will teach Civics to ninth grade students during the first semester and World History the second semester,” Rose said. more... |

JEFFERSON - Ashtabula County native Scott Vacca began his first day teaching in the Jefferson Area Local School District Tuesday at Jefferson Elementary School.
The Jefferson Area Local Schools Board of Education hired Vacca during its Aug. 17 meeting in the Jefferson Senior High School media center.
“I was hired as an intervention specialist. This means I can help students in areas where they are having problems learning. I work with them to address areas of weakness,” Vacca said last week. more... |

GENEVA - The preliminary results are in, and it appears as though Geneva Area City Schools has improved its performance on the Ohio Department of Education’s report card for the 2009-2019 school year.
GACS Superintendent Mary Zappitelli reviewed the district’s preliminary results for the 2009/2010 school year during a Geneva Area City Schools Board of Education meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at Geneva High School.

ASHTABULA - As excitement continues to build for the new campus-style elementary schools in the Ashtabula Area City Schools, school officials have now turned their attention to the process of naming the schools.
Five elementary schools will be located on the Wade Avenue property (which has been annexed into the City of Ashtabula) in a campus-style configuration, including one pre-kindergarten through third-grade building, two kindergarten through third-grade buildings and two fourth- through sixth-grade buildings, AACS Superintendent Joseph Donatone said. more... |
